Consumer Champion for Business Energy
Make It Cheaper won the title of 'Consumer Champion' for the second year running at The Energy Live Consultancy Awards.
The TELCAs, which set the standards for brokers working within the commercial energy sector, are judged by an independent panel including ex-Marks & Spencer Head of Energy Management, Mervyn Bowden, and CEO of Energy UK, Angela Knight CBE.
Each year Make It Cheaper arranges 50,000 business energy contracts for organisations of all sizes ranging from those run by part-time volunteers to others employing teams of finance officers spending up to £2.5 million annually on their energy. Since its inception in 2007, the London-based company has been campaigning for a fairer deal for the UK's 1.8 million non-domestic energy consumers, including influencing Ofgem's recent decision to include contract end dates and renewal windows on bills.
This week it published the Smallprint Pointer to pinpoint where key contract information is displayed by 12 of the main business energy suppliers and whether 'automatic rollovers' still apply to their contracts.
Jonathan Elliott, managing director of Make It Cheaper, said:
"We make every effort to save our customers time and money. We put them at the centre of everything we do and we survey them all to find out whether we are getting it right for them. Our staff are incentivised and paid on customer satisfaction. If it's a supplier, or the industry rules by which we are bound, that have been causing detriment with our customers, we will go the extra mile out of our way to fix it."
