Make It Cheaper has helped Hampden Park, which is the home stadium for Queen’s Park and the Scottish National football teams, save over £10,000 a year on their gas and electricity bills.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games are being hosted in Glasgow from 23th July to 3rd August.
Hampden Park, a UEFA five star stadium, will stage the Track and Field Athletics and the Closing Ceremony for an audience of over 50,000 spectators in the stands.
Make It Cheaper has helped Hampden Park, which is the home stadium for Queen's Park and the Scottish national football teams, save money on their gas and electricity bills.
Each year, Hampden Park consumes 294,000 kWh of gas to provide hundreds of hours of sporting entertainment. To see what savings could be made on their energy bills, a stadium representative spoke to Iain McCulloch at Make It Cheaper.
Iain negotiated a deal to drop the cost of their unit rate from 5.05p to 2.78p. To acheive such a reduced rate, the daily standing charge rose from 346.06p to 399.05p. Overall, these changes should save Hampden Park at least £10,000 a year for the next two years.
A spokesperson for Hampden Park said:
"Our work with Iain McCulloch and his team at Make It Cheaper aimed to reduce our costs for both gas and electricity. We were thrilled when Iain presented various options that were beyond our expectations in terms of cost savings and the speed with which we accomplished our goal in time for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. What we appreciated most about working with Iain and his team was their ability to cut through the predictable politics of a project, keep everyone happy, and deliver the expected results - and then some - all the while spending hours of time contacting suppliers for prices and administrative purposes."
By swapping their utilities through Make It Cheaper, Hampden Park will also be supported when their contract finishes. We will contact them during their renewal window to make sure they are happy with the service so far, find out what their needs are for their next contract and then help them move onto a new tariff at the right rate.
We're thrilled to save Hampden Park so much money, and offering our support at renewal should ensure that they don't roll over onto more expensive standard rates.
