The service invites businesses to apply for customised expertise by demonstrating their potential for growth and their willingness to achieve it. If their application is successful, the business is allocated a highly experienced and knowledgeable Growth Coach who takes a hands-on approach to helping the company achieve its objectives. They help the business overcome debilitating issues and offer them knowledge and information that they might not be privy to otherwise. Participating companies can also attend masterclasses, take up networking and mentoring opportunities and gain insight from peer-to-peer advice.

The primary criteria for eligibility are that the company is registered in England, has fewer than 250 employees and has an annual turnover of less than £40m. After that, it's a question of demonstrating their potential for exponential growth. Companies that could conceivably double turnover and employees within three years are encouraged to apply - and if they're successful they are required to pay a sign-up fee of between £600 and £3,000 (depending on employee headcount). GrowthAccelerator is backed by the Government which makes the service affordable. Since Government is investing with you in the growth of your business, the cost is significantly reduced.

The service's methodology is simple: who better to aid progress than those already in the know? GrowthAccelerator offers access to hundreds of proven business experts and the years of experience they have accrued between them. Although the eligibility criteria may seem stringent, the logic goes that offering resources to those that have a real chance of significant success is a sustainable model in our current economic climate. The service aims to improve the bigger picture, recognising that successful small and medium-sized businesses are the lifeblood of the British economy and their contributions to growth and employment are huge.
