Give your business a boost with a tweet from Theo Paphitis
Every Sunday BBC Dragon Theo Paphitis retweets his favourite tweets featuring the hash tag #sbs
What are you doing between 5 and 7.30pm this Sunday?
Well, if you are the owner of a small business, you might consider jumping on your computer and writing a tweet that could be seen by more than 300,000 Twitter users.
This two-and-a-half hour slot is tweeting time for "Small Business Sunday", an initiative created by serial entrepreneur and Dragon's Den investor Theo Paphitis. The idea is that participants send a tweet about their business and, if it's one of Paphitis's six favourite of the session, he retweets it to his Twitter followers.
Since at the time of writing Paphitis has 317, 257 followers, it's clear that Small Business Sunday offers participants a fabulous online marketing opportunity. Successful companies have a profile page on the Small Business Sunday website - and many report of a huge increase in Twitter followers and a spike in traffic to their website after the highly-coveted retweet.
Paphitis says of the initiative:
My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club. Like-minded individuals can share successes and learnings. This website [theopaphitissbs.com] will give a valuable profile to the winners chosen to date and should help those who have not yet won but want some tips on how to do so.
All you need to do is follow @TheoPaphitis and @RymanStationery on Twitter, compose your tweet starting with @TheoPaphitis and including the hashtag #SBS, and then send your it between 5 and 7.30pm. If it grabs Paphitis's attention, he'll retweet it at 8pm the following evening and your business will receive a big publicity boost.
Best of all? It won't cost you a thing!
