Your business tip of the month from Make It Cheaper: Free 0800 numbers on your mobile

posted on 04/09/2014 15:01:20 by David Pallant

This month's handy tip is to download a smartphone app that makes an 0800 number free to call.

The 0800 Wizard app can cut the cost of freephone numbers on your mobile

Remember when 0800 used to mean free?

The rise of the mobile phone has changed all that - every network can charge the 0800 number differently, meaning you could easily pay over 20p a minute for a "Freephone" call.

You'll need to make an 0800 call once in a while - possibly to a service provider like us - and when you do, you'd probably always like to know it's not going to cost you anything.

Well, this month's business tip is to download a free smartphone app that makes calling these numbers free from all mobile networks all the time. It's called 0800 Wizard:

So, how do you use 0800 Wizard to call an 0800 number?

Step 1

Download the app from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store and open it on your phone.

Step 2

Dial the Freephone number you want on the app's keypad and press the 'call' button.

Step 3

Wizard will then connect your call using a local rate 01, 02 or 03 number - usually free on most mobile contracts and for Pay As You Go customers (but we do recommend checking this first).

Step 4

When you're done with your call, all you need to do is hang up as normal.

Step 5

If you need to ring the same Freephone number again, you'll need to make the call through the app

Where can you download 0800 Wizard?

Well, if you're looking at this webpage on your smartphone you can visit the Apple App Store, Android phone Play Store or Blackberry App World to get your app now.

If not, simply search when you next have your phone to hand, download the wizard and start making 0800 calls for free.
