Are small business owners really lazy?
In our myth-buster blog post, we list some of the reasons why business owners might be reluctant to switch - and explain why they should not be.
Energy Secretary Chris Huhne has caused his share of controversy over the past few days. In an interview with The Times, he claimed that most people "do not bother" to look for cheaper gas and electricity deals.
There's a whole range of reasons why people may be reluctant to switch, so we've listed those reasons below and busted the myths behind them.
Myth: People are too lazy to switch.
Busted: The reality is that most business owners and staff are extremely pushed for time and believe that researching and comparing business energy prices is an arduous, time-consuming task. It is, if you are trying to look up the prices each supplier offers one by one, but in just 10 minutes on the phone with one of our business saving experts, we can compare the energy market for you and present all the options available.
Myth: Switching suppliers will not save businesses enough money for the effort.
Busted: If you think that the savings won't be worth it, consider this: you could save an average of 32% on your business electricity and 38% on your business gas bills simply by switching your energy supplier. Our research shows that only 7% of small businesses are switching their energy compared to over 18% for domestic energy switchers. Yet, unlike domestic switchers, businesses can stand to save thousands by switching.
Myth: It takes a long time to make the switch.
Busted: If you decide to switch to another supplier after talking to our savings advisors, we take care of the whole switching process for you. All you need to do is agree to the contract over the phone, terminate your current contract, and your new bills will start arriving 4 to 6 weeks later.
Myth: Your energy supply might get cut off if you switch.
Busted: We can assure you with 100% certainty that a switch will never cause your energy to get cut off. The change in supply is not a physical change - it just involves a transference of paper-work.
Myth: Switching is too complicated because there are too many options.
Busted: If you have hundreds of energy contracts to choose from, how do you know where to start? The range of choice can be intimidating - but we can help you with that too. We'll talk you through the available options and give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.
