Over a third (35 per cent) of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) use social media websites on a daily basis to promote their business, a new survey has revealed.
More than two-thirds (68 per cent) use the websites to help them network, while 63 per cent of SMEs use the channel to attract new customers, the survey carried out by Daryl Willcox Publishing found.
Six out of ten reported social media was as having a positive impact on their business and 36 per cent of SMEs said they had attracted new customers through the use of it.
"The number of companies participating in social media on a daily basis shows the growing importance of this marketing channel," said Daryl Willcox, founder of the company. "The fact that 60 per cent have reported a positive impact on their businesses shows SMEs are becoming increasingly receptive to the benefits."
Recently, Nick Baggott, founder of Navigate Consulting, suggested blogs could boost SME online marketing too.
