Mobile working 'could help cut business overheads'
02/08/2010
Introducing mobile working policies could help firms cut down on overheads such as business gas and electricity, it has been claimed.
According to a recent survey by Orange, many younger workers would embrace flexible working, with 69 per cent saying that having the option is important to them.
Flexible working was deemed the third most important aspect of a new job, behind learning experiences and happiness.
Max Taylor, director of corporate marketing at the telecoms firm, said: "Allowing employees to work flexibly actually presents a significant opportunity for businesses to save money and improve employee morale."
He added that setting up an employee to work from home is not a huge investment and is simply a matter of providing people with the necessary tools.
Mr Taylor continued to say that business owners and managers also need to ensure that they shift their management styles to suit flexible workers, adding that it is important to make sure they stay in the loop at all times.
