Firms using iPhones for business telecoms

Firms are 'using iPhones for business telecoms'

20/05/2010

Firms are giving their employees iPhones to conduct their business telecoms with, it has been said.

The iPhone is now being used as a business phone by companies because staff are more familiar with using them, according to Smartphone Daily, a mobile computing blog.

Andy Betts, editor of the blog, said: "Traditionally, businesses would provide devices that the users weren't particularly happy with.
"The iPhone is a popular device, so businesses are now trying to provide something that offers a more satisfactory user experience."

Earlier this week, Reuters reported that the British bank Standard Chartered, which currently uses the Blackberry for its standard business telecoms device, has replaced it with the iPhone.

Mr Betts said that the iPhone does not have any "specific business advantage" over its competitors but, "delivering a better experience for users is something that companies are becoming more aware of".

This week, Vodafone unveiled its new Business Choice package, which is aimed specifically at small and medium-sized enterprises.

It offers users the ability to choose from a variety of different business telecoms tariffs, choosing different amounts of data, emails, texts and voice calls.
