VoIP 'can help SMEs cut business electricity costs'
15/01/2010
The use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology provides SMEs with a range of benefits, it has been claimed.
According to communications services provider Voxclever, the price for VoIP extensions is lower than other forms of telephony, and the technology is easier to configure.
The group went on to stress that the facility transmits both voice and data communications over a single network, which could greatly reduce business electricity costs.
Chief executive of the group Scott Goodwin said: "VoIP is very useful for businesses looking to reduce costs in three main areas - infrastructure investment, monthly recurring fees and call charges."
He added that SMEs are continuing to look to cut costs wherever possible as the recession continues.
Earlier this week, Paul Myners, financial services secretary for the Treasury, stressed that more funding options outside of the traditional avenues should be made available to SMEs.
