Help reduce SME business energy, says Power Efficiency
17/03/2011
Power Efficiency is calling for the government and industry
bodies to work together and help reduce the amount small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) pay for business
energy in the private sector.
The carbon strategy consultancy is urging the government to
implement a plan and develop an energy-efficient policy that will
save £6 billion every year, it claims.
Julius Brinkworth, director of energy projects at Power Efficiency,
said: "UK business cannot afford to ignore the financial benefits
of being energy efficient in such economically difficult
times.
"By being smarter about how and when we use energy, the private
sector can start making sizeable savings quickly - many within just
one year."
Furthermore, a recent Carbon Connect Inquiry, which Brinkworth was
co-chair of, made 15 recommendations for improving business energy
efficiency and cost across the UK.
Recently, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
announced that SMEs could save up to £23 billion by reducing
business energy waste.
