Scottish Power announces gas price cut
25/03/2010
Scottish Power has become the last of the big six energy firms to announce plans to slash the cost of its gas.
According to industry experts, as all six major players in the energy sector are cutting prices, now is an ideal time to compare business electricity tariffs and find the cheapest commercial energy deal.
Scottish Power's reduction will knock an estimated eight per cent of customers' bills and the firm hopes the move will undercut British Gas's latest offering.
Raymond Jack, Scottish Power's director of energy retail, said: "To get the most from our new lower prices, we would also encourage all of our customers to make sure they are taking advantage of our best deals.
"By making simple changes to the way they pay... Scottish Power customers could make further savings."
In February, Experian's late payment index showed that small firms pay business gas and electricity bills on average three days faster than their larger counterparts.
"Having a better credit score means they are in a better position to negotiate improved terms," the firm's head of commercial credit Joe Myers claimed.
