Wind power is UK's biggest renewable energy source

Wind power is the UK's biggest source of renewable energy, according to figures from the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
Some 2.5 per cent of the UK's domestic and business energy is provided by windfarms, according to the statistics.
This represents a 31 per cent increase compared to the previous year, while renewable energy forms as a whole grew by 20 per cent.
Maria McCaffery, chief executive of trade association RenewableUK, said: "It is good news to see the role of renewables in meeting our energy needs is rising and in particular the significant contribution from the wind industry.
"These are promising statistics but we must go further and act faster."
She added that by 2015 a third of the UK's power supply needs replacing, meaning there needs to be greater investment in green technologies.
Recent statistics from the European Wind Energy Association revealed that offshore wind energy production is heading for a record year in 2010.
