We’ve been making switching and saving easy for Britain’s small to medium-sized businesses since 2007.

And the way we see it, if we’re not striving every day to make that even easier, we’re not fulfilling our purpose.

So what do we do? In a nutshell, our service takes the hassle out of shopping around for better deals on electricity, gas, insurance, merchant services and telecoms.

And even though we offer a specialised service for businesses, we also switch electricity and gas for Britain’s homeowners.

Our story

Our CEO Jonathan Elliott launched Make It Cheaper in April 2007, believing a huge majority of Britain’s businesses were paying more than they need to for electricity and gas.

If someone could make it easy for businesses to pay less, how good would that be? Businesses would operate with lower costs, they’d be handing over less of their hard-earned cash to big, powerful energy suppliers and their own profits would of course improve. And what would it cost them? Less time than dealing directly with energy companies and no hassle whatsoever.

A small office opened in London’s Borough Market and, in the company’s first year, customers saved in the region of £10 million.

Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength, putting more and more saving opportunities on the table and keeping the customer at the heart of what we do. We were voted ‘Consumer Champions’ and ‘Most Trusted’ at the inaugural TELCA industry awards in 2013, picking up the ‘Consumer Champions’ gong again in 2014.

We now employ 140 of the smartest saving experts in the land. We’ve saved hundreds of millions of pounds for thousands of customers and we’re the trusted partners of major consumer websites like Moneysupermarket, GoCompare and uSwitch.

Our success has seen us appear on the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list for three years running, from 2011 to 2013 – and we have no intention of slowing down. We want to hit the £1 billion saving mark by 2018 and we know there’s only one way we can do it – by continuing to make switching and saving as easy as we possibly can.
