Virgin Media announces doubling of mobile broadband speed

As companies look for more cheap business telecoms packages in light of the push towards such things as software-as-a-service, it may come as no surprise that Virgin Media is looking to offer a new USB modem with speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.
The new mobile broadband offering boasts double the speed of the original model, following in the footsteps of the company's fixed line model.
Customers who take on the new package will have the options of a one month rolling contract or a full 18 months with the firm, while also having the choice of either a 1GB or 3GB data limit per month.
Executive director of mobile at Virgin Media Graeme Oxby is proud of the latest offering and said: "We're thrilled to be offering this faster mobile broadband to our users.
"If you're not at home or near a wireless connection, mobile broadband is the best way of staying connected on the move."
Last month, Virgin Media also announced extensions to its TV coverage deals, bringing TiVo back to the UK and allowing its customers to record TV shows in a way similar to telecoms competitor Sky+.
