Commercial electricity prices
With commercial electricity bills on the rise, there has never
been a better time to compare business electricity prices.
"There's a grim predictability about Britain's energy suppliers"
says Consumer Focus referring to their "inevitable talk of higher
bills". Carbon reduction commitments and the looming 'Energy Gap'
means the days of cheap energy may be over but there is still a
massive 3-fold difference between the most expensive and the
cheapest commercial electricity prices.
Basically if you are a business and waiting for your supplier to
miraculously drop your commercial electricity costs… don't hold
your breath. Firstly, most businesses are on fixed commercial
electricity tariffs so anything you read about price changes won't
affect you as a business until your contract is up for renewal - on
the one, two or three year anniversary since you entered the
initial agreement. Secondly, if your renewal date is approaching
(and the majority of businesses are on one year contracts so dig
out the paperwork now and find out when it is) the likelihood of
seeing any reduction is, frankly, remote.
Take one of our customers as an example: Nick Horne from The
Pier House Hotel near Fort William on the West Coast of Scotland
contacted Make It Cheaper after receiving a renewal notice from his
supplier. The letter informed him his commercial electricity prices
were about to go up from an already-expensive 14 pence rate up to
an eye-watering 32 pence per unit. The cheapest alternative supply
we could find him at the time was less than a third of the price at
9 pence per unit.
Stay with the same supplier year-on-year and you will inevitably
pay the price but play them at their own game and you can stay on
the best business electricity prices indefinitely.
In other words switch - or at least compare the market for 'new
customer' prices - as often as your commercial electricity contract
comes up for renewal.
Our Price
Checker tool provides you with a good indication of how fairly
you are being charged at present by suppliers, but we cannot stress
enough the importance of finding out when your contract is due for
renewal. Ideally, you also want to find out what renewal price is
being proposed by your commercial electricity supplier so that we
can accurately compare it against the lowest available going
forward. To find out how much you can save by switching, please
get in touch and one of advisors will be happy to help.
